2022 The Brightest Star
After tasting through the 2018 vintage barrels, this was the favorite wine of Mac's business partner and co-owner, Venus. This Zinfandel really spoke to her, and we thought it only appropriate to name it for her! She received her moniker as a child - her teachers nicknamed her Venus because she was their brightest star. While Mac is known for his Rhône wines, one of his guilty pleasures is Zinfandel.

Tasting Notes
Snappy, terse blueberries, elderberry syrup, late-fall pomegranates, candied hibiscus, chili-spiced mango, black licorice, chocolate-mint, tamarind, Mexican mole, pecan praline, maple frosted donuts. Pure energy. Instant intrigue on the palate. Intense minerality, mouthwatering texture. Sustained and persistent acidity continuously enlivens the undulating waves of chalk on the finish.

Production Notes
Destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks and small, open-top bins, spending between 15-20 days on skins, with a combination of pump overs during cold soak and punchdowns during fermentation. Aged 20 months in French oak 265-liter barriques, 15% of which were new.
