2021 Paper Street Cuvée

2021 Paper Street Cuvée

In the Willow Creek District lies Paper Street Vineyard. This land was used for barley and almonds until the mid-1990s and was mostly abandoned until the Dusi family planted vines there. The limestone-white hills, hot days, and cool nights make for concentrated, vibrant, and mineral-driven wines.

Vinification:

20% whole cluster fermented in small, open-top bins, concrete, and stainless steel tanks, spending between 20-40 days on skins, with a combination of pump overs and punchdowns during cold soak and fermentation. Aged 20 months in neutral 500-liter puncheons and 265-L barriques, 45% of which were new.

Tasting Notes:

Raspberry coulis, rose petal, passion fruit, peach-blackberry cobbler, fresh blueberries, singed cedar, fresh ground nutmeg, Iberico ham, sweet mint, silky, persistent, energetic, juicy, with great height on the finish.

Scores:

93 Points, Wine Enthusiast.

94 Points, Robert Parker - "It opens with some flinty tones that give way slowly to kirsch, grilled meats, coffee beans, and thyme. The full-bodied palate has a core of ripe fruit framed by velvety tannins, and its fresh acidity calls you in for another sip. It's showing some youthful new oak character and will benefit from 3-5 years in bottle."
