2020 Altas Viñas
Members-only release until mid-March. Members who purchase this wine online now will also have their club shipment charged to the card on file and shipped now.
17.5 acres of Mourvèdre and Grenache grow on decomposed granite, gneiss, schist, basalt, and clay loam at 3,200 feet above sea level, making this one of the highest elevation vineyards in the US. Superb clonal selection, tight spacing, huge day/night temperature differentials, and meticulous vineyard work produce grapes that yield vibrant, complex, and compelling wines.
TASTING NOTES
Prime rib pan drippings, dark chocolate-raspberry bark, black tea, star anise, Mexican hot chocolate, and churro dust. The palate is youthfully energetic, refreshingly savory, expressive, with restrained power.
