2019 The Brightest Star
After tasting through the 2018 vintage barrels, this was the favorite wine of Mac's business partner and co-owner, Venus. This Zinfandel really spoke to Venus, and we thought it only appropriate to name it for her! Venus received her moniker as a child - her teachers nicknamed her Venus because she was their brightest star. This wine is our newest star too, and while Mac is known for his Rhône wines, one of his guilty pleasures is Zinfandel. Paper Street Vineyard is some of the most interesting and exotic Zinfandel in Paso Robles, and we can't wait to share it with you.
Destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks and small, open-top bins, spending between 15-20 days on skins, with a combination of pump-overs during cold soak and punch-downs during fermentation. Aged 16 months in neutral 265-liter barriques.
Macerated mulberry, chocolate truffle, river stone, blood orange marmalade, huckleberry, dark leather, and sweet brown spice. The palate is rich and lively with bright red fruit and density. The finish is resonant, with incredible nuance that proclaims the site.
