2018 Estate Red Magnum
Our Estate features high elevation, dynamic, diverse terrains, and extraordinarily steep hillsides, which yield a wine rife with complexities and balance. Ample north and east-facing vine exposures ensure that our ripe California fruit flavors are driven by mouthwatering freshness.
40% whole cluster fermented in concrete tanks and small, open-top bins, spending between 20-44 days on skins, with a combination of pump-overs and punch-downs during cold soak and fermentation. Syrah aged 20 months in new 350-liter cognacs and 265-liter barriques, Grenache and Mourvedre aged 20 months in neutral 500-liter puncheons, and 350-liter cognacs.
Aromatics: Boysenberry, lavender, caramelized blueberries, chalky mineral, sweet olive, candied violet. Palate: Focused, fleshy, and energetic with flavors of sweet spice, dark berry, and cherry liqueur. Long and sleek, with firm but polished tannin.
