2014 L'Ange Rouge
L’Ange Rouge meaning “The Red Angel” is dedicated to Mac’s grandmother. Grandma had red hair so what better of a name? Alta Mesa Grenache is blended with Grenache from Thompson Vineyard to showcase a rich and complex blend of Grenache.
VINIFICATION
The components of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre were fermented in small open top bins, with 100% whole clusters included. The wine spent 15-20 days on the skins with a combination of pump-overs and punch downs. Aged 20 months in stainless steel and 500- liter neutral puncheons.
TASTING NOTES
Cherry compote, wild strawberries, macerated raspberries, white pepper, tobacco, grilled herbs, garrigue, rose petal and potpourri, with a dense mid-palate, that’s light on it’s feet, with a lifted and red fruit dominated finish.
